DUBLIN - Staff at an Irish riding school were forced to postpone festivities after Gus the camel chomped his way through 200 mince pies and several cans of Guinness intended for their holiday party.

Gus, starring in the riding school’s Santa’s Magical Animal Kingdom show, helped himself to the refreshments while staff were getting changed for the party. “Gus found his way out of his pen after the stall door was accidentally left open. He cracked open six cans of Ireland's famous stout with his teeth to wash the pies down with. He had a real party.” Robert Fagan, owner of the Mullingar Equestrian Centre in central Ireland, told Reuters.

The 11-year-old camel, originally from Morocco, appeared well after Monday evening’s feeding frenzy, Fagan said, adding: “We were all looking forward to party, but you really couldn’t blame him. Gus is a very gentle camel, and probably the first camel to be a little hungover the day after a holiday party."

My next vacation to The Cook Islands...

I am hoping to take a vacation to The Cook Islands soon and have been doing some research to on these Pacific gems. RAROTONGA is small enough to explore at will, with both lush rainforest and lovely beaches, there is also scuba diving, sailing and historical tours. The Polynesian locals are probably the friendliest in the entire Pacific and the New Zealand influence has helped develop this island to make it a clean and comfortable place to visit. It is similar to Hawaii of 30 years ago.

AITUTAKI and it's stunning lagoon have a truly laid back South Seas feel. The main island has quaint fishing villages, some nice beaches, lots of tropical flowers and a few restaurants and shops. The island is smaller and less populated than Rarotonga and is almost entirely flat making it easy to get about by bike or foot. I have read the best swimming beaches on the main island are on the north west coast and at the southern tip of the islands characteristic hook.
Snorkeling, diving, golf, tennis, cultural and arts and crafts exhibits, sailing and game fishing are all available.

Thinking about taking a vacation?? Plan your trip ...and your return

When you work for a living, you MUST get away from the office once in a while. Hopefully it hasn't been so long since you took a one that you don't recall the concept of hanging out with your friends and family trying not to dwell on work, while being towed on skis behind a boat going 60 mph. Preparing for time away is almost as important as getting away itself. You want to concentrate on fun, and not falling off those skis and return to work refreshed, not nervous about the loose ends you didn't tie up. Here's a few tips to help maintain the post-trip bliss even after returning to the office. So hit the road Jack and yes, you will have to come back.

Part I: Let's go on vacation
Planning a vacation can be a bit of a job in and of itself. Lucky for you there is a travel specialist Ann Lile who has the resources to help you plan your trip to Hawaii or a honeymoon to Mexico, so you don't have to.
Part II: Get it together before you leave
Although it may be a startling fact for you to digest, but your coworkers' days don't revolve around you :) I'm not saying that they don't have a certain appreciation for you but they have their own jobs to think about; and if you're on vacation, well, you're just one less lunch crowding the little office fridge. On the other hand, it's not true that your work won't be missed. If you leave clients or projects hanging while you're gone, you can bet that there will be talk about how much you're "missed" around the office. A little preparation can go a long way.
-Set your out-of-office email and voicemail. Nothing says "I don't care what you need...I'm long gone" more not getting a reply to your email or voicemail.
-Take care of your customers and notify them before you leave. Warning them in advance that you will be in the Bahamas for 2 weeks, may prevent them from considering taking their business elsewhere.
-Pawn off to coworker - I'm kidding of course. Delegate the responsibilies that can't wait for you to return.

Going on vacation is great. Tropical birds native of Fiji arrive in Portland, OR

The Oregon Zoo has recently welcomed the arrival of eight new Lorikeet chicks. In April, the first chick hatched in one of the 15 nest boxes placed throughout the zoo's Lorikeet Landing. By the end of the season, bird keepers hope to have 10 new chicks. I've always enjoyed watching and listening to birds. I find it so relaxing whether I'm sitting out on my parents deck in countryside (outside of Portland), on vacation in Fiji, or at zoo exhibits.

I really enjoyed my stay at Le Taha'a Private Island and Spa in Tahiti. It was absolute paradise from the moment we arrived. From the warm hospitable welcome of the staff singing upon our arrival by boat, to the soft white sand and vibrant aqua lagoons, to the beautifully appointed luxurious bungalows.
We spent many hours hanging out on the huge lanai of our overwater bungalow just snorkeling or kicking back listening to our tunes and enjoying the cool breeze and exquisite lagoon view. I actually did have one complaint..... we had to eventually leave and go back home.

Tahiti Travel Tips and Suggestions

· A valid passport will be required to travel to Tahiti with the validity of 6months from your return date.
· Call the airlines 48 hours prior to departure to verify you flight time
· Upon arrival most visitors exchange some money at the airport or at their hotel. It is not necessary to exchange large amounts since credit cards are accepted in all tourist areas and US cash is often accepted as well. I would recommend getting $100-$200 per person of their French Pacific Franc (XPF) at the airport or your hotel.
· Tipping is not part of their culture and is not expected. If you do want to tip for exemplary service, it is welcomed.
· The climate and lifestyle on the islands call for casual and comfortable clothing. Pack loose-fitting, natural fabrics and plenty of shorts. Parus and swimsuits can be worn during the daytime at the resorts, while casual shirts and walking shorts provide the most comfort during island explorations. For dinner, casual slacks and sport shirts are the best choice for men while cool sundresses are most appropriate for women.
· Very important things to pack: Sunscreen, insect repellent, water-resistant footwear for walking around coral reefs, sunglasses, extra batteries for camera and plenty of film.
· A converter/adapter is recommended since most hotels use 110 or 220 volts. Most resorts have a few converters guests can use for electric razors etc, but they are subject to availability. You may want to consider bringing one of your own.
· The tap water is good in most hotels, but if you prefer bottled water is available as well.
· No shots or certifications are required from North America.
· Getting around. The most inexpensive and common form of transportation is the public bus system. On Tahiti there are now two types of buses: the open-air trucks called Le Truck and the RTC large white coaches. Both operating frequently in Papeete and around the islands. Le Truck also operates on most other islands. Taxis can be hired at most hotels, airports, and ferry terminals. For scenic tours around the islands, try escorted excursions by boat, 4x4 safari, bus, or helicopter.
